Bugs is an experimnet in AI & A-Life ... I have started it as a hobby but who knows one day they may replace all other virtual pets :) ... they live on this doughnut shaped world that happes to be the same size as your screen ... they search for food and mates ... navigate round obsticles ... and try to avoid the odd preditor ... this thier life ... watch them as they live and grow ...
I should mention they use ncurses & runs on linux
to get yours ...
1) download
2) extract the files for the arcive
3) twiddle with the souce ... your option
4) make
5) run it :) *
* note: the DEBUG & STAT are on by default ... redirect stderr
* or you will have some problems ... they are easy or turn
* off ... just set them for 0 in bug2.h :) ...
the status bar tools ...
x = exit
1 = next bug in line
2 = highest food
3 = highest generation
4 = oldest
5 = lowest predlvl
6 = highest predlvl
v = view xy pos of bug
d = display DNA
c = counts gen food predlvl
e = edit race & DNA
g = goto current bug

h = pan left
j = pan down
k = pan up
l = pan right
s = slower
f = faster
t = turbo ... uses all of the cpu you got
p = pause or unpause
n = single step
bugs may be tuned with the speed setting to use some percent of the cpu by
watching top ... slow them until they are useing the amount you desire
cpu setting percent (80x25 screen) 486 DX 33 1 80 128K 50 486 DX2 66 1 75 32K 50 486 DX 150 1 75 16K 50 K6 300 1 5of course you actual percentage may very ... it will change a funtion population and possibly other cpu useage
